Performing a search in the list of archived scans
You can search not only in the properties of the scanned documents (like description or keywords) but also within the full text of the documents thanks to the build-in OCR (optical character recognition) engine. You can switch between AND / OR filtering and even filter by dates.
Seeing it from a technical point of view, the “search” does not act like a search but more like a filter: You define a “mask” and filter the list of all scanned documents with it, showing only those items that meet your filter criteria.
OR Filter Mode
By choosing the OR filter mode Scan Archive will search for all scanned documents that contain your specified search/filter phrase in at least one of the fields that you have chosen.
This is the default mode.
AND Filter Mode
By choosing the AND filter mode Scan Archive will search for all scanned documents that contain your specified search/filter pharse in all of your chosen fields.
So when you for example chose “tax” as your search/filter phrase and select the fields “description” and “keywords” only those scanned documents will be shown that have the word “tax” both in their description and their keywords. Items that contain the word “tax” only in the field “description” or the field “keywords” will therefore not be displayed. By switching to the OR mode, also those items will be shown.
Filter by Dates
You can select both Start- and End Dates for filtering (or only one of them).
When you select a Start Date, only scanned documents will be shown that were created from this date on (or later) but not before this date.
When you select an End Date, only scanned documents will be shown that were created somewhere in the past till to the specified End Date but not after it.
When you select both Start- and End Date, only scanned documents will be shown that were created between both chosen dates.
Clear the filter
By clicking the button “Clear Filter” your current filter will be cleared and all scanned documents will be displayed again.
